WordPress Plugins are something of a small miracle for bloggers.  When you need to find a way to do something quicker, better, faster, chances are there is a plugin that will help.  Sometimes searching for the right one can take a while so here’s a list of WordPress plugins that we think make life just that bit easier:

Jetpack

From providing you with stats, email subscribers and contact forms, Jetpack does so much. Here is a full run down of all its features. Also, if you move from WordPress to self hosted WP, Jetpack will make everything look the same as it was before!

Akismet

Essential spam filter.

Editorial Calendar

This is a great plugin and perfect for those of you who prefer visual plans.  It gives you a rolling calendar which you can drag and drop your draft posts into. You can then move them around, click to edit and you can also have a draft section at the side for posts you haven’t allocated a date to yet.

Yoast

A super easy way to make sure your posts are SEO friendly every time.

Evergreen Post Tweeter

Evergreen posts make good content but it can be hard to find the time to schedule regular tweets for them.  With this plugin though, it just got easier.  It tweets out your old posts for you. You can set it to only tweet certain categories, tags or a certain age of post, adjust the frequency and off it goes.

Shareaholic

This handy plugin adds thumbnails of related posts (yours or other people’s) to the bottom of your posts. It’s a great way to encourage people to click on another post and keep reading what else your blog has to offer.  It has LOTS of other features too.

WordPress Popular Posts

This one gives you a widget for your sidebar to display your posts getting the most hits.

Duplicate Post

Perfect for series, feature or if you join in with the same linky each week.  This plugin will make your life so much easier by adding a ‘Copy to a new draft’ link. Then all you do is go into the published post you wish to copy and click the link. Then go back to you calendar and you will see it already in Drafts for your new post.

Better Delete Revision

Every time you click ‘Save Draft’ when writing or editing a post, your blog stores that file.  Even once you publish the post, all the previous versions are stored and could be clogging up your blog.  This genius plugin deletes all those drafts of published posts.

Instagram Slider

The slider creates a widget for your sidebar that shows all your Instagram images.

Updraft Plus

This allows you to back up your blog to various different destinations, including Dropbox.

Thanks for the tips! We’re thinking of changing our WP theme as we can’t get certain plugins with the free version! CommentLuv looks like a good one to have! X
